Configure Visitor Types

Visitor types let you categorize your visitors by reason for visit (supplier, candidate, client, contractor…). Each type can have its own instructions, quiz, and custom fields. This guide shows you how to create and configure them.

Audience: Administrators, Managers
Application: Admin (app.anghello.co)
Estimated time: 10 minutes

Before you start

  • You need an Administrator or Manager account on Anghello
  • At least one site must be created

Enable visitor types

1. Open your site settings

In the left-hand menu, go to Settings > Sites. On your site card, click Settings & Features.

2. Open the Visitor Types tab

Click the Visitor Types card in the overview.

3. Enable the feature

Turn on the Enable Visitor Types option.

Add a visitor type

1. Click Add a visitor type

Click the Add a visitor type button.

Important: The number of visitor types you can create depends on your subscription. If the limit is reached, a message lets you know.

2. Fill in the information

  • Visitor Type Internal Name — The name used in the Admin interface (for your team)
  • Label displayed to visitors — The text the visitor will see on the check-in kiosk (translatable into several languages)
  • Enable this visitor type upon creation — You can choose to disable the visitor type right from creation, to give yourself time to configure it before making it available to your visitors

3. Save

Click Save. The type appears in the list.

The "Other" type

An Other type is always available at the bottom of the list. It serves as the default category for visitors who don't match any defined type. Its label is configurable.

Manage visitor types

You can reorder how the types are displayed by drag and drop. The order defined here matches the order in which the types are presented to the visitor on the check-in kiosk.

You can also enable or disable a specific visitor type by clicking its toggle. Disabling a type lets you quietly configure the settings associated with it before enabling it.

Customize the journey per type

Once visitor types are enabled, a type selector appears at the top of the site settings page. You can then configure specific elements for each type:

  • Visitor Instructions — Write different instructions per type
  • Security Quiz — Define specific questions per type
  • Form Fields — Choose which fields are displayed per type

How it works for your visitors

On the check-in kiosk, the visitor sees a selection screen with all the enabled visitor types. They choose their reason for visit, then the check-in form adapts automatically (fields, instructions, quiz) based on the selected type.

Note: If only the default visitor type is enabled in the visitor types list, the reason-for-visit selection step is skipped.

Good to know

💡 Tip: The selected visitor type is displayed in the visitor's record and in the visitor list, making tracking easier.

💡 Tip: If a type is used in pre-registrations, it will automatically be pre-selected when the visitor arrives.
