Add Custom Fields

Custom fields let you collect specific information from your visitors (company, purpose of visit, license plate, etc.). You can also add check-out fields and internal fields visible only to your team. This guide shows you how to create and configure them.

Audience: Administrators, Managers
Application: Admin (app.anghello.co)
Estimated time: 10 minutes

Before you start

  • You need an Administrator or Manager account on Anghello
  • At least one site must be created

Reorder fields

You can change the display order of the fields using the Move Up and Move Down buttons next to each field. The order defined here matches the display order on the check-in kiosk.

Enable or disable a field

Rather than deleting a field, you can disable it temporarily. A disabled field:

  • Appears grayed out in the configuration list
  • Is not displayed to the visitor on the check-in kiosk
  • Can be re-enabled at any time

Fields per visitor type

If you have enabled Visitor Types, you can choose which fields are displayed for each type:

  • All visitor types — The field is displayed for all types
  • Only: — The field is only displayed for the selected types
  • All except: — The field is displayed for all types except the excluded ones

Translate a field

All the texts your visitors see on the check-in kiosk can be translated into several languages: field labels, help texts, and dropdown options.

How to do it:

  1. Open the ... menu of the field to edit and click Configure
  2. Locate the translation icon (Aa) to the right of the input field
  3. Click it: a section opens with one field per language, identified by a flag
  4. Enter your translations manually, or click each language's translation icon for an automatic translation
  5. To translate everything at once, use the Translate All button at the bottom of the section
  6. Repeat the operation for the help text and each dropdown option; they each have their own translation icon
  7. Click Save

Good to know

💡 Tip: Custom field values can be viewed in the visitor detail panel, in the "Custom fields" section.

💡 Tip: Custom fields are included in the CSV export if you check the "Include custom field data" option when exporting.

Important: The number of custom fields you can create depends on your subscription.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Solution

The field doesn't appear on the kiosk

Check that the field is enabled and in the right category (check-in, check-out, or internal).

The field doesn't appear for a visitor type

Check the per-visitor-type visibility configuration for that field.

The visitor can't submit the form

Check whether a required field is hidden or misconfigured.

If the problem persists, contact our team via the chat at the bottom right of your screen or at support@anghello.co.
