Importing employees from a CSV file
If you have a lot of employees to add, the CSV import lets you add them all in one go. This guide walks you through each step of the import.
Audience: Administrators, Managers
Application: Admin (app.anghello.co)
Estimated time: 10 minutes
Before you start
- You need an Administrator or Manager account on Anghello
- Prepare a CSV file containing your employee data
Importing your employees
1. Open the host employee list
In the left-hand menu, click Host employees.
2. Click Import
Click the CSV import button (import icon) at the top of the page.

3. Download the CSV template
An import wizard opens. Click Download template to get a pre-formatted CSV file.
The template contains the following columns:
Column | Description |
|---|---|
| First name (required) |
| Last name (required) |
| Email address |
| Phone |
| Direct phone |
| Internal phone |
| Job title / position |
4. Fill in the file
Open the template in a spreadsheet app (Excel, Google Sheets…) and complete it with your data. Save the file in CSV format (UTF-8 encoding).
5. Upload the file
Drag and drop your file into the drop zone, or click to select it from your computer.

6. Check the column mapping
The wizard shows a preview of the detected data. Check that each column is matched to the right field.

7. Run the import
Click Import. The wizard processes the file and displays a summary:
Created— New employees addedUpdated— Existing employees updated (same email address)Skipped— Invalid rows or duplicates

Good to know
💡 Tip: If an imported email address already exists in your organization, Anghello offers to link the existing employee to the site rather than create a duplicate.
💡 Tip: Make sure your file is encoded in UTF-8 to avoid problems with accents and special characters.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
The import fails | Check that your file follows the template format (columns, UTF-8 encoding). |
Duplicates are created | Check the email addresses before importing — Anghello detects duplicates by email. |
Special characters display incorrectly | Save the file again using UTF-8 encoding. |
The 1,000-row limit is reached | Split your file into several batches of fewer than 1,000 rows. |
If the problem persists, contact our team via the chat at the bottom right of your screen, or at support@anghello.co.
