Configuring the QR code
The QR code is the most popular check-in method: visitors scan a code with their smartphone and reach the check-in kiosk. This guide shows you how to configure the QR code's advanced security options to protect your site.
Audience: Administrators, Managers
Application: Admin (app.anghello.co)
Estimated time: 5 minutes
Before you start
- You need an Administrator or Manager account on Anghello
- The QR code is enabled by default on all sites
Opening the security settings
1. In the left-hand menu, go to Configuration > Sites. On your site's card, click Settings & features.
2. Open the QR Code - Devices tab.
3. Click Show advanced options to expand the advanced options.

The security options
Option | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| If enabled, visitors using a VPN on their smartphone can check in | Disabled (VPNs blocked) |
| If enabled, visitors coming through a proxy can check in | Disabled (proxies blocked) |
| If enabled, only visitors whose connection comes from allowed countries can check in | Enabled |
| If enabled, visitors must solve a small verification challenge before checking in (anti-bot) | Disabled |
4. Save
Click Save after making your changes.
💡 Tip: The default settings suit most organizations. Only change these options if your visitors run into trouble (for example, if your guest WiFi network uses a proxy).
Enabling or disabling the QR code
You can disable QR code check-in if you'd rather use a tablet only.
1. In the site settings, on the QR Code - Devices tab, turn off the Enable QR code check-in option.
2. Click Save.
Regenerating the QR code
If your QR code has been compromised or shared in an unwanted way:
1. In the advanced settings, click the red Regenerate QR code button.
2. Confirm in the security dialog.
Good to know
💡 Tip: You can enable the QR code AND the tablet at the same time. The QR code for self-service visitors, the tablet for assisted reception — that's the most popular combination.
💡 Tip: The QR code's last regeneration date is shown next to the regeneration button.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
A visitor sees an error message after scanning | Check the security options (VPN, proxy, country filter). If your guest network uses a VPN or proxy, enable the matching options. |
The QR code no longer works | The QR code may have been regenerated. Print a new poster. |
Too many fraudulent attempts | Enable ALTCHA verification to block bots. |
If the problem persists, contact our team via the chat at the bottom right of your screen, or at support@anghello.co.
