# Managing roles and permissions

Anghello offers four roles to organize responsibilities within your team. This guide explains the differences between each role and how to assign them.

**Audience:** Administrators
**Application:** Admin (app.anghello.co)
**Estimated time:** 5 minutes

## Before you start

* You need an **Administrator account** to manage roles

## The four roles

### Administrator

Administrators have full access to the entire organization.

| ✅ Can do | ❌ Cannot do |
| ---- |
| Create and delete sites | — |
| Manage all users and invitations | — |
| Configure the organization and the subscription | — |
| Access every site and all data | — |
| Trigger evacuations | — |
| Manage integrations (Teams, webhooks, API) | — |

### Manager

Managers look after one or more specific sites.

| ✅ Can do | ❌ Cannot do |
| ---- |
| Configure the settings of their sites | Create or delete sites |
| Manage visitors on their sites | Manage the organization or subscription |
| Manage host employees on their sites | Invite users |
| Configure the check-in flow of their sites | Access sites they don't manage |

### Receptionist

Receptionists handle day-to-day operations on one or more sites.

| ✅ Can do | ❌ Cannot do |
| ---- |
| View the visitor list for their sites | Configure site settings |
| Check visitors in and out | Manage users |
| View the visit history | Change the check-in flow configuration |
| Trigger an evacuation | Manage host employees |
| View host employees' contact details | Access sites where they aren't a receptionist |

### Evacuation

The Evacuation role is the most restrictive.

| ✅ Can do | ❌ Cannot do |
| ---- |
| View the visitors on site at their site | View the visit history |
| Trigger an evacuation | Check visitors in and out |
| — | Change the site configuration |
| — | Manage host employees |

## Good to know

> 💡 **Tip:** The same user can have different roles depending on the site — for example, Manager on one site and Receptionist on another.

|| **Important:** Only administrators can assign the Administrator role. Managers can only assign roles on their own sites.

## Troubleshooting

| Problem | Solution |
| ---- |
| I can't change a user's role | Only Administrators can change roles. |
| A manager doesn't see all the sites | Managers only have access to the sites assigned to them. Add them as a manager on the missing sites. |
| A user has the `SSO pending` status | This user has been invited but hasn't accepted their invitation yet. |
